The Kingdom of God

The worldly turmoil‘s loud voice is silent.

We lift our eyes to quiet spirit‘s heights,

and mind’s transfigured glimpses see,

how the realms of truth to earth incline.

Among our souls His heavenly light is playing,

through our being his holy fire streams

And from heart‘s deepest springs is braking

eternal live to the covenant‘s feast.

How miraculously big is God‘s kingdom!

Expanding throughout all time‘s distance,

entwines the earth and countless stars and is,

where only a heart for the good is glowing!

Who has in him the inhabitant‘s number espied!

Who knows his forces abundance and stirring,

the seeds all, boundlessly here sown,

and prospering‘s and ripening‘s golden blessings?

Here reigns the father’s spirit, still and pure!

Here is freedoms rule in fullest strength!

Hope is blossoming and belief’s light-figures

indulge in love‘s spring‘s shining.

The highest trust looks at perfection,

humbleness in its own light, blushing.

in deepest peace rests reconceiled mind,

devotion is kneeling, highly exalted praying.

The kingdoms sun is the father‘s spirit!

As the eternal spirits are swinging abound him,

continually approaching in narrower circles,

until wholly their live in His flows!

Who does not become aware of his childly being?

Who does not feel with pain what in the dust he lacks?

A deep homesickness is glowing in our bosom,

to its well-spring the soul is parched with thirst.
